Homey Lifestyle Management LLC

The Story Behind The Brand

Founder, Erica Buckman investigated a tragic suicide case as a police officer that propelled her on a mission to end social isolation and feelings of loneliness in residential communities. The perplexities of the case inspired her to dig deeper into neighborhood engagement practices. In researching ways to build a greater sense of community between neighbors, she discovered that neighborhoods were actually designed in such a manner that people in close proximity would connect with one another.

Yet, it's understood statistically that only 28 percent of adults who live in suburban neighborhoods know their neighbors and even less, 1-in-4, hold face to face conversations with their neighbors. Understanding this dynamic, Erica created Homey Lifestyle Management LLC., a company dedicated to creating socially engaging lifestyles in residential communities. What started out as a social experiment quickly evolved into a dynamic social enterprise that’s changing the lives of residents around the world.

Chief Marketing Officer:

CMO and co-founder of Homey Lifestyle management Larry Elsey spent years in the state foster care system between Florida and New Jersey. Growing up Isolated from family and with constantly changing social environments Larry was forced to lean on community for support and guidance. Larry went on to join the U.S. Coast Guard in the early 2000’s and was stationed on the US Coast Guard cutter Dependable out of Cape May NJ. It was during his time in service, he realized how important it is to be able to depend on the people around you and how together you can make a difference in each other’s lives.

“I remember visiting my sister’s townhome community and wondering how come I didn’t see more people outside? The images that I had seen on TV growing up had led me to believe that communities like these were full of people who knew each other, cared for and supported each other.” Realizing that his sister shared his concern that the “Village” aspect of community was long gone, he decided to align his goals with that of his sister’s CEO and Founder Erica Buckman and together have worked to establish Homey Lifestyle Management.
